Online Ticketing

It has transformed the ticketing system of Indian Railways with it's best in class internet based train ticket booking and IRCTC mobile ticket booking system. Tickets can be booked from the mobile phones via GPRS or SMS. In addition to e-tickets, it also offers I-tickets that are basically like regular tickets except that they are booked online and delivered by post. It also provides PNR status of tickets booked through it online.
Generally, there is a huge load on the website at 10 am, which often slows down the booking process when booking of Tatkal tickets opens. Therefore on 13th June 2014 IRCTC online booking has been migrated from the old version to the Next Generation e-Ticketing website which has certain good features like Quick Booking, Saving favorite journeys and made some major changes to the User Interface.
